Rules and Guidelines There's a lot more I can write about but I'm getting lazy now lol. I guess my main point is that cycle 1 is one of my favourite cycles of all time because of these reasons. Side note - I'm not sure if it's just because I've only watched cycle 1 from YouTube uploads, but is the overall filming quality sort of hazy and not as clear as other cycles? I feel like there's this warm, hue that kind of blurs everything slightly.

Tyra's investment in the show - who knows if Tyra ever genuinely cared for any of the contestants, but she definitely seemed way more invested in the show overall during the earlier cycles. Elyse's rant is obviously iconic, so is 'I saw them go round and round, and up and down.' I could go on for ages about all the memorable scenes but I won't. Prayer circle moment alone had so many memorable scenes - Robin's 'How excellent!', Ebony's dead-pan stare into the camera, the overall chaotic energy and yelling right before Robin starting singing, etc.

Iconic moments - leading on from my previous point, I feel like this cycle 1 had so many golden reality TV moments that again were entertaining but also had that unscripted feeling. None of this felt very forced or scripted. From Adrianne and Elyse's (former) friendship, Robin and Elyse's conflict over religion, the infamous Ebony vs Ginselle. Any friendships and conflicts felt so incredibly raw and natural. I think what distinguishes cycle 1 from most other cycles in terms of contestants is how these contestants' relationships and interactions with each other that made for the ultimate entertainment.

Iconic contestants - there are many iconic ANTM contestants, and nonetheless this cycle has several including Adrianne, Elyse, Robin, Ebony, and Ginselle. You could tell the photoshoots were all pretty low-budget, but that's what adds to the cycle's iconicness. The low-budget - there's something about the judges being squished together on that single table and the make-shift judging room which adds a sense of rawness and relatability. I may be stating the obvious, but it's just something I've been thinking about for a while and it's something I didn't feel until I started watching cycle 1 properly. I'm not sure if this is a popular opinion or if this has been posted about multiple times already, but I think ANTM's cycle 1 is incredibly iconic and the overall vibe of it can't be compared to or grouped together with any other cycle, not even cycle 2.
